“Right now, that foe has taken the form of Donald Trump, growing white supremacy, and the Republican agenda.” — Connor Ferguson

That messaging is exactly how Democrats can blow it again in 2018 and 2020.

Sure “Fighting for the rights of groups to which we don’t belong…” is a noble, important and necessary plank in the Democratic Party platform — both now and in the future — But…

Lecturing working class whites struggling to pay bills and support their families about the evils of “white privilege” or “white supremacy” is not the way to win an organized, unifying, nationalized campaign. And a nationalized campaign is exactly what Democrats will need particularly in 2018 - to have any hope of retaking the House majority.

All Democrats need do is keep telling miners in West Virginia, steel workers in Pennsylvania and Ohio, factory workers in Michigan, and farmers in Wisconsin and Minnesota that “white privilege” is one of the biggest problem facing American, and Democrats will keep losing national elections.
